Emil Skoták- conductor
Born in 1954 in Brno, at the age of five he
began learning to play the piano.
From this age and for the rest of his life he excelled in all of his musical
endeavours.
1975 - he graduated from The Musical school Brno with an emphasis in trumpet performance
1981 - he graduated from the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts where he developed his conducting skills under the tutelage of Professors Otakar Trhlík and František Jílek
1982 - he took his conducting experiences in the army artistic band in Tábor where he worked as the director
1982 - 85 - his musical carrier reached new heights when he was appointed as the conductor of The Teplice Philharmonic Orchestra (North Bohemia)
1983- he was chosen together with thirty young conductors from all the world to participate in the competition of G. Fittelberg in Katowice (Poland)
1985 - 90 - his carrier has progressed as the choir conductor in The Music Theatre in Brno
1991 - 92 - head conductor of Brno Philharmonic Choir
1991 - 93 - producer of the musical Broadcasts
of Brno
Since 1989 Mr. Skoták has been sharing his
experience and knowledge as a professor at the Janáček Academy of Performing
Arts where he utilizes his conducting skills from classical baroque styles to
jazz.
Recently he has been participating in several main projects in The City Theatre
of Brno (Midsummer Nights' Dream, West Side Story, Bastard). The rock opera
Bastard (S. Moša - Z. Merta )he has conducted for more than 200 times (72 times
in the historical building of the National Theatre in Prague in 1994 -1996).
